1. The World Rock n Roll Comp: The World rock n roll championships is being held on the first weekend in June down in Brisbane. Approx. 12 couples will be going down to compete for Cairns. Good Luck guys!

2. Whiterock state school: CRBB will be doing a dance display at the whiterock state school winter carnival on saturday 14th of June.

3. Cairns Show: We will be doing a dance demo at the cairns show on the Friday 18th of July between 5 and 6 pm.

World Freestyle RnR Championships:Congratulations to all participants of this years world freestyle rock n roll comp on the gold coast. Everyone danced their hardest and all of our hard training paid off with our juniors filling the junior world open final and our first senior couple dancing their way into the senior world open final. Cairns dancers Richard Halabi and Stefanie Martin are currently the junior world open champs. congratulations. Once again junior showcase first place was taken by cairns couple Stefanie Martin and Lindsay Spanner as well as Senior showcase first place taken by Ashleigh Spanner and Michael Elliott. Congratulations again to all who participated we anticipate a bigger group competing next year yet again.

Adult Classes: The start of June saw also the start of our adult rock n roll classes on Friday night at the railway hall on macnamarra street. This class is being taught by senior students Renee Baker, Ashleigh Spanner and Michael Elliott. If you are interested in learning some basic moves click on the link titled contact us.

The Worlds Freestyle RnR Competition 2007

Congratulations to all the Cairns Rock n Beat n Boogie dancers that competed at the recent World Freestyle Rock n Roll championships in Brisbane. The weekend was a huge success with everyone doing exceptionally well and bringing home 36 trophies. A great effort was made by everyone especially by our junior competitors who were experiencing the competition for the first time. A big thanks to all who came and supported the kids and Our very own CRBB teachers who helped us all along the way. Congratulations to all competitors again and we hope we do as well next year!

The Cairns rock n beat n boogie dance club started in 2004. The clubs three coaches, Warren, Rhonda and Jenny began teaching just these few dancers but within a matter of months more and more people became members eager to learn a different style of dance.

The club now has over 100 students in it ages ranging between 4 and 18. The CRBB teaches students the basics of Swing and Rock n Roll dancing as well as a host of social and line dances. As a club we travel to Brisbane once a year to compete in the 'World Rock n Roll Championships' as well as doing fund-raisers for charities and other performances throughout the year.

CRBB is a fun and social learning environment where students can make new friends and learn a skill they can use for the rest of their lives. CRBB is a non-profit organisation and are available for, fund-raisers, charities, performances and teaching of large groups ie. schools.

The Coaches

Cairns Rock n Beat n Boogie is run by three very talented coaches who train the dancers in rock n roll, swing and line dances. They coach the beginners through to the advanced students in the basics of dance and then timing, harmony and variety. Warren, Rhonda and Jenny have been dancing for a long time and have lots of experience that they can pass on to the new generation of rock n roll dancers.

As well as the help of Warren, Rhonda and Jenny throughout the year, other dance coaches are brought to cairns for weekend workshops every couple of months. John Watson, a Brisbane rock n roll coach, and Shirley Boyd, a Gold Coast swing coach, come to cairns and teach the dancers new and exciting moves and routines.

Competitions

The Worlds Rock n Roll competition: The worlds takes place every year in June down in Brisbane. It is hosted by the Brisbane Rock n Beat n Boogie club and Cairns goes mostly every year to show them what we're made of. Anyone in the club is welcome to join us for this three day comp and excellent learning experience. So far we have attended The Worlds 2005 and 2006. We are currently training for this year.

Australian Allcomers competition: This is an Australian comp held each year also in Brisbane by the Brisbane Rock n Beat n Boogie club. It is a small competition over two days with competitors from all around Australia. We have attended this comp once in 2005 and came away with a good few golds, silvers and bronze's. Go Cairns!

Armidale Dance Competition: This NSW dance competition focuses on swing dance
just as much as they do on rock n roll. The competitors
are fierce but it is an enjoyable competition to attend.
A small group of Cairns dancers attended Armidale just
once in 2005 but definitely left an impression on the
southern dancers.
